The Little Things

Life lesson #2347835408736508734: Laughing is vital in everyday life

I've decided I'm not going to use the saying, "don't sweat the small stuff"...(particularly because I don't enjoy sweating in the slightest bit), but I am going to "laugh off the small stuff"...it's more fun and burns more calories, right?! Laugh off the small stuff and enjoy the little things in life.

I am going to start documenting 5 little things I enjoy everyday. I figure, when you document and reflect it tends to make that "small stuff" a little smaller! So, today I am thankful for these 5 little things:

1. good conversations over good food

2. being able to sit with my laptop and watch tv for hours on end

3. a Cubs victory...Well, hopefully... it's 4-3 top of the 8th

4. using amazing shampoo and conditioner this morning, as my hair STILL smells wonderful

5. that I am sporting a Choctaw HS cheer shirt from '04...the older the more comfortable

A quote to leave you with... "Every day may not be good, but there's something good in every day."

What 5 little things did you enjoy today?

Suck It Up People

Leave it to 20/20 Mystery to teach me something...
I absolutely love all mystery/criminal shows...Criminal Minds, House (its a mystery show, right?), Law & Order, 20/20, Dateline, etc. This week 20/20 had two 18 year old girls on, who had been kidnapped as 5 year olds and escaped to overcome all odds. One of the girls said something that I think will forever stick with me. She said someone once told her, "If you were to put your troubles in a pile, along with everyone else's you would be happy to pick yours up and walk away...things could always be worse." Is that not so true?
People everyday have it worse than I do! Me, whose worst problem is the long line at the Chickfila drive thru or my phone battery dying. I always have a loving family, amazing friends, a roof over my head, a wonderful job, food, and so many other unnecessary things that make me happy!
I hate signing onto Facebook to see all these posts about, "my life sucks" or "fml" (for those of you who don't know what that means, ask your teenager). So, to sum it up... suck it up people, things could always be worse!

dream BIG

Do you ever feel like you're suppose to have multiple careers in your lifetime? Don't get me wrong, I love my job and being a special education teacher is a reward unlike any other, but I have so many different interests and am fascinated by so many things! If I could have 10 career paths in my life they would be...

1. Working for non for profit groups, traveling the world and making a difference
2. Occupational Therapist... a very realistic job I hope to maintain in my future
3. Something in the fashion world...we'll go with head of styling for a major fashion magazine
4. FBI Missing persons
5. Lawyer
6. A curator for a top art museum
7. Owner of an antique/junk store
8. Wedding dress designer
9. Advertising executive for the MLB
10. An a-list actress...(dream big, right?)

Hey, who knows?...maybe I'll do all 10 in my lifetime. My mom always told me, "You can do anything you set your mind to."...I'll blame her for all the job hopping!

What would your 10 career choices be?...Dream Big!
